Sometimes the best ideas don’t start in a Hollywood pitch room.

Sometimes they start on the phone with your cousin, clowning, talking shit, laughing, reminiscing—and then somebody says:

“What if we actually scrap up some money and find somebody to bring this to life?”

And the rest was history.

That’s essentially how The Carpet Man came to life.

Created by filmmaker** Tarrell DeLoach , alongside my cousin “Sqooby” **, what started as a conversation quickly turned into a real plan of action.

We went from kicking ideas around to:

🎨 Finding animators
💻 Learning animation programs
🎥 Buying equipment
🎙️ Figuring out voiceovers
✍🏾 Developing characters and stories
🧠 Creating the identity and world of The Carpet Man

And somewhere along the way, this thing became much bigger than the original idea. 9 Months later we birthed the final movie…

THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS REAL. THE STORY IS PERSONAL.

One of the most special parts of The Carpet Man is that we pulled inspiration directly from where we grew up.

We took our grandmother’s house and the neighborhood around 63rd & West Blvd. in Los Angeles, California, and turned that environment into the foundation for the animated world.

That alley.

That corner.

That block.

If you know that part of Los Angeles, you already know—there was always something going on. 😂

The duplex wasn’t just a location.

It was a memory bank.

It was where family lived, cousins gathered, adventures happened, arguments went down, friendships were made, and childhood memories were created.

It was where life happened.

And that became the heartbeat of The Carpet Man.

THE VIBE 🎬

If you grew up watching Bébé’s Kids, The Boondocks, The PJs, The Simpsons, or South Park, you’ll recognize some of the DNA.

But The Carpet Man has its own flavor.

At the center are two best friends:

Mondo & Darnell.

Mondo is the wild one—unpredictable, impulsive, and always capable of turning a simple situation into a whole damn situation.

Darnell is the smooth, more mature one—the guy trying to keep things together while Mondo is usually somewhere testing the limits.

Together, they’re trying to run a carpet-cleaning business left behind by Darnell’s late father.

Now they have to figure out business, friendships, customers, relationships, money, and adulthood—all while still being themselves and living in the same neighborhood they grew up in.

And that’s where the comedy begins.

Because running a business with your best friend sounds like a great idea…

until you actually have to run the damn business.

BUT THIS IS BIGGER THAN A MOVIE.

What started as a simple phone conversation between two cousins has grown into a whole Carpet Man brand.

MOVIES. MERCH. MEMES.

And we’re just getting started.

This is our world.

Our humor.

Our memories.

Our neighborhood.

Our characters.

Our story.

And now we’re bringing it to life through animation.
