When I first heard about Knuckleheads, my understanding was pretty simple: it was a crime filled drama about some neighborhood knuckleheads caught up in the streets, doing what knuckleheads do…neighborhood riffraff, hustling, conflict, and everything that comes with it.
Then I got on set.
I originally came aboard as a Production Assistant, just looking to help wherever I was needed—camera, prepping actors, running errands, helping the crew, whatever. But somewhere along the way, things changed.
While working on set, I connected with director Jayson Swann and his crew, and they needed someone to step in for a role. At first I was a little hesitant but then I jumped in, did what I had to do, and apparently did something right, because one scene turned into another, then another, and before I knew it, Malcolm was becoming a series regular.
And that’s when I realized Knuckleheads was deeper than my first impression.
Yes, there’s the neighborhood. There’s the street politics, gang dynamics, crime, corrupt law, hustling, and survival. But underneath all of that are relationships, decisions, loyalty, betrayal, ambition, and people trying to navigate a world where everybody has an angle.
That’s where Malcolm comes in.
I see Malcolm as one of the ultimate networkers. Some might call him two-faced, but I look at him differently. Malcolm is in survival mode. He’s doing business with his people while simultaneously making moves outside of his circle. He’s networking, making deals, protecting himself, and making sure the money keeps moving.
Basically, Malcolm wants to make sure he’s connected, protected, and paid.
And honestly, that was one of the most fun parts of playing him.
The production itself was another experience. I loved the environment. Jayson Swann had a vision for how he wanted to direct the series, and watching that vision come together was dope. We filmed in some great locations—from the compound, to the warehouse, the studio, neighborhood locations, and those corner-store environments that really helped give the series its texture.
We weren’t just showing up and shooting.
We were building this thing together.
We did table reads. We were at the studio getting in sync every week. We spent almost an entire year filming, donating our weekends and putting the work in. So when you finally see the finished series, you aren’t just watching a show—you can see the time, energy, and commitment that everybody put into it.
And that’s what makes me proud to have been part of it.
You never know where one opportunity is going to take you.
Big shout-out to Jayson Swann, and everybody who put their time, energy, and name into this project. There were so many people who stood out and brought something different to the series.
The Mayor was doing his thing. Watch out for Breeze, Ammo, and that mfkn Nine…
Watch the characters. Watch the moves. Watch your back…
